SOCIETY NEWS Mrs. Millard Chamblee attended the wedding of he'r granddaughter, Miss Lou Liles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Liles of Sanford, Saturday, July 1. Miss Liles was wed to John Knight, also of San ford. Also attending the wedding was Lou’s aunt, Mrs. Wallace Chamblee, who spent a week with the Liles before the wedding. Mrs. Foster Finch spent the weekend with the Liles, attending a dinner party and wedding breakfast and wedding. Approximately 150 descendants I of the late Mr. and Mrs. Washing- ! ton Hagwood gathered for a fam- i ily reunion last Sunday at the j home of a son, L. G. Hagwood. A picnic style dinner was served on i the grounds of the home. It’s good to see family and relatives and revisit old friends after not seeing them in six years. Mrs. Frank A. Brucia, the form er Helen Glover, is enjoying her vacation here very much. The last time she was home it was different. Then, she came because of the death of her father. Helen and her two children,j Kristina, 10, and Recarldo, 6, flew j nere dune zo Horn ineir nome in San Francisco. And they are hav ing the time of their lives, visiting, enjoying watermelon cuttings, hamburger cookouts, and the like. Her aunt, Mrs. E. E. Powell, recently entertained at a water melon cutting for Helen and the children. Mrs. Ronald Hocutt in vited some of Helen’s high school classmates and friends in for en tertainment. Mrs. Felton Thomp son had an old fashioned ice cream supper the other night for her, and the Jaimes Earl Moodys gave a “cousins party”—all cous ins of Helen’s had been invited— when the Moodys served a ham burger cookout. And this week Helen and her two youngsters wil visit other rel atives in Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Powell at Buck Roe Beach. The husband of the former Joyce Temple, Charles Cimerro, has received an appointment with the Internal Revenue department. He is presently undergoing special training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. Charles Cimerro and daughter of Greensboro are visit ing her mother, Mrs. L. R. Temple. Kathy McBride of Sanford, niece of Dr. Ben Thomas, is spend ing this week with Dr. and Mrs. Thomas and children. Saturday guests of Dr. and Mrs. George Tucker and children were Dr. Tucker’s mother, Mrs. George Tucker, Sr. of Whitakers, and his aunt, Miss Nora Chaffin, who is dean of women at Vanderbilt Uni versity, Nashville, Tenn. Weekend guests of Dr. and Mrs. George Tucker were sisters of Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. Arthur Dance and Mrs. Stuart Bailey of Rich mond. Niece Brenda Dance is spending this week with the Tuckers. Mr. and Mrs. Gilford Bufkin, Mrs. L. E. Long, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dean were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Gill Jr. and children at the Gill cottage at Kerr Lake. Mrs. Spencer Turrentine, the former Jocelyn House, and her sons, Spencer III and Roy House, of Bell Buckle, Tenn., visited her mother, Mrs. A. R. House. Also a guest at the residence was a niece from Shelbyville, Tenn., Miss Jane Turrentine. Mrs. House’s guests left Wednesday. hosts July 4 to Mrs. A. R. House and her guests. The Walls feted their guests with a ham burger and wiener roast in the yard and summer porch. Mrs. Elizabeth Ellett, Mrs. Wal lace Chamblee, Mrs. Wilson Bras well, Mrs. S. G. Flowers, and Mrs. A. R. House attended the funeral of Mrs. F. L. Page’s sister, Mrs. Huldah Harris Blanks of Roxboro. Mrs. J. F. Coltrane entertained at a Coca-Cola party Monday morning honoring an old friend, Mrs. Noi Daniel Berry of Swan quarter. Mrs. Berry is the sister of E. C. Daniel. She is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Daniel. Attending the morning social were Mrs. S. G. Flowers, Mrs. A. R. House, Mrs. E. H. Moser and Mrs. John Kemp. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown of Dayton, Ohio, were the week-long guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Campen. Mrs. Brown formerly taught at Wakelon. Miss Ruby Dawson visited her brother, Robert Dawson, Sunday night at Rex Hospital. He recently underwent a cataract operation on his left eye. He is reported doing splendidly. ALL SALE ITEMS CASH Miss Teresa Pearce, Mr. Marlowe Wed In Raleigh July 2 The marriage of Miss Teresa Poole Pea'rce and James Christo pher Marlowe was solemnized Sunday, July 2, at Edenton Street Methodist Church in Raleigh. Dr. Howard Powell, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McClellan Pearce of Route 2, Zebulon and the bride groom is the son of Mrs. J. E. Baggett of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and E. E. Marlowe of Kings Mountain. Mrs. William D. Miller, organist, and Mrs. Frank Kemp of Zebulon, : vocalist, presented music. Mrs. j Kemp sang “Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee,” and “Wedding Pray er” as the benediction. The nuptials were said before an altar of arrangements of white flowers and seven branched cand elabra. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a gown of taf feta and alencon lace styled with a square neckline and bouffant skirt, caught up with roses in the back, which ended in a chapel train. Her veil was attached to a queen’s crown of lace trimmed with nearls and isihp worn a ctrina of pearls, gift of the bridegroom. She carried a cascade bouquet of stephanotis, carnations and lilies of the valley, centered with white orchids. Mrs. John Lawless of Charlotte was matron of honor. She wore an aqua sheath with a silk organza overskirt and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Wearing similar gowns of pink and carrying starburst bouquets of pink carnations were the bridesmaids, Mrs. McLeon Priv ette, sister of the bride, Miss Brenda Bunn and Miss Joan Med lin, all of Zebulon, and Mrs. Charles White Long of Raleigh. Miss Marsha Ann Pearce was flower girl and Randy Privette was ring bearer. David. L. Marlowe of Ft. Pierce, Fla., brother of the bridegroom, Carolyn Massey, and two daugh ters have moved to Brooklyn, N. Y. They have resided here with her parents. Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Massey, since their return from Japan. Mrs. Kitahata’s husband is doing graduate study in a New York university. Mrs. L. M. Massey accompanied her daughter and granddaughters, Mrs. Luke Kitahata, Amy and Marie, to their new home in Brooklyn, N. Y. week before last. Mrs. Massey is now home. Mrs. R. L. Brown of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., returned with her niece, Mrs. L. M. Massey, for a visit with her sister, Mrs. A. C. Dawson, and another niece, Miss Ruby Dawson. She left Monday for a visit to her old home in Jacksonville, N. C. Visiting Mrs. A. C. Dawson and Miss Ruby Dawson Sunday were Mrs. Dawson’s brother, E. L. Ray nor, and her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Raynor, all of Henderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Barnes and Mrs. Ruth Pol lard of Durham. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lowery and Elisa visited Ted Lowery at Camp Seagull Sunday. Accompanying them were Timmy Kemp and Henry Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Tart and children spent last week at FFA camp at White Lake. Pearce, Jr. and Marshall Pearce, brothers of the bride, both of Zcb ulon, and Charles White Long of Raleigh. The bride's mother wore a sheath of blue lace with matching accesories. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in pink lace | with matching accessories. Both wore orchid corsages. For a wedding trip to Jekyll charge of 12 FFA boys from the Wakelon School ag department. Mrs. Merle R. Showalter of Bal timore spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. R. H. Herring. Dr. and Mrs. John Harvey of Richmond recently visited rela tives of Mrs. Harvey’s here. Mrs. Harvey is the former Hazel Her ring. The decendants of Black Horton held their annual family reunion Sunday, July 2, at Zebulon Lions Club. There were approximately 100 present for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hinton and three children of Bristol, Pa., spent last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hinton. Mrs. T. D. Cox and daughter, Jane, of Jacksonville, Fla., spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Wil bur Debnam and Mrs. Julian Horton. Mr. and Mrs. Dwite Debnam and children spent the weekend with Mrs. M. T. Debnam. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kannon and children spent last week vacation ing with Mrs. Kannon’s brother and family in Melbourne, Fla. Willard Winstead, an executive with Armco Steel Co. of Balti more, spent the weekend here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Winstead, and other rela tives. Island, Ga., the bride wore a sheath of green silk with match ing coat and an orchid corsage. The bride is a graduate of Bunn High School and Hardbarger Bus iness College. She was formerly employed by New York Life In surance Company in Atlanta, Ga., and has done fashion modeling in Raleigh and Atlanta. A graduate of Georgia Military Academy and Emory University, the bridegroom is manager of Ordinary Agency of Gulf Life In surance Company in Atlanta, Ga. The bride’s parents entertained at a reception in the Hayes Barton Roam of the Sir Walter Hotel im mediately following the wedding. Mrs. Allen Pippin II greeted guests and Mrs. Rochelle Long of Zebulon introduced them to the receiving line. Mrs. C. E. Pearce, Jr. of Zebulon presided over the bride’s book and goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Hag wood of Zebulon. Assisting in serving were Mrs. William Bunn and Mrs. Robert Medlin, sisters of the bride, and Mrs. Marshall Pearce, sister-in law of the bride, all of Zebulon.
